My new boy

I watched this King at a local Petco for 2 weeks, and then decided that I was going to get him if he was still there when I next went to check. Well, he was still there so now he's here with me.

He's a saucy boy and so full of personality! He's currently set up in a Medium Pet Keeper, but I'm searching for larger accommodations for him so I don't have to do constant water changes. Every time I come in the room he's either lounging in his plants, which he seems to love! Or he follows me around the room as I move.

He's dark with red in his fins and a green iridescence; I think this makes him a "Wild" coloration? I dunno, I'm still new to this! One of the pics I attached is completely out of focus but I included it because it's the only one where his tail isn't all clamped. He's not sick that I can tell, he just doesn't seem to flare his fins that often. Gonna have to borrow my bf's camera so I can get some nice shots.

In fitting with my Camelot theme he's being called Uther.

He's a total character.

During the day he swims around, but as night he's taken to laying in his Anuibas near the top of the tank, pointed so he can watch me coming into the room.

Ii can't get over how much personality these little fish have. I've always loved Oscars because of their character, but I never knew that a small fish like the betta could also be so interested in what goes on outside their tanks.

Is it just me or is his tail REALLY short? Like even for a close tail.

Huh, I hadn't really noticed his tail being too short. I think it looks pretty balanced in person; some of it could be my lovely picture taking abilities. I don't really mind one way or the other, he has enough character to make up for any short comings in his tail.

Oh, you're right. I think the 1st and 2nd photo are at an angle. I just looked at the third and it looks great. :p
