Betta ate debris

I just did a little water change and saw my betta eat a piece of debris that came up with the water. I think it was food but it looked flaky and I feed pellets. He seems fine but I'm a little worried... Any ideas on what I can watch for?

Your Betta eating this unidentified material could possibly be due to the fact of most bettas confusing there common food with other substances that have similar, or the same attributes of appearance. This is usually harmless and in your case, he was most likely eating decaying organic matter. Which shouldn't have any negative effect on him

if your betta takes something into his mouth and it's not food or good enough to be food he will spit it up
