Disinfecting

Hey so I found some really pretty shells and was wondering if I could put them in my tank. Is boiling enough to disinfect or what do you guys suggest?

Are these seashells? I think those can tend to mess with your PH?

Yeah, everything I've read about seashells implied that you should probably just avoid them because they can change your pH.
