Unhappy just switched from gravel to sand. murky water, when can xan go back in? (picture)

I wanted a more natural look to Xan's tank and decided to get sand and re do his whole tank.

I rinsed the sand out good I thought but the water is still a little murky. Right now I have Xan in the "cup" he came in from the store and have that floating in the tank. When can I put him back in? I am going to do a couple (2-3) small (1/3) water changes the next week here to clear up the water but dont what xan to have to live in the cup till then... Will a little "murk" hurt him? I kept the water from the tank (took out the water, took out rocks, put in sand [after rinsing it out in a bucket with the hose] put in "old" water + a little new and some dechlorination, put in decor and plants)

What do ya think:

There was another thread like this not too long ago.

It can be either two things, bacteria bloom or that you didn't wash the sand enough. It's probably that you didn't wash the sand enough. .

Sand needs like thorough washing.

I have thoroughly washed sand for half an hour and it still was a bit murky. The sand just needs to settle and your filter will get all the little particles. I can see the back of your aquarium, so I think you are good to go. It should be totally clear within 24 hours.
