BBS only take maybe 5 minutes to set up, just leave them for 24 hours and they're ready to go.

Considering BBS :) How bout daphnia? Is it any good?

Daphnia is very good for betta - young and old.
But newly hatched fry can't eat them. 3 mm fry can eat young daphnia but not adults.
5mm fry can eat adult daphnia.

Don't have time between now and spawning? Only takes about 24 hours.

Microworms to start would be fine, but please turn to BBS after a week or so.

As far as dried food, I think the studies show greater survival rate with live food. Micro organisms to start like paramecium, I don't have, so I used micro worms which seem to be small enough for them to eat.
