Injured Marimo Moss Ball?

Okay, so, the other day I took home some cuttings from plants at my work, and when netting them, I..."accidentally" hooked myself a small torn moss ball. Will it ever regain its shape? What do I need to do to help it? Or should I just tether it to a rock and let it grow like a carpet?

If you want it to regain a ball shape, you will need to roll it. Replication of these little balls of algae are done in this manner. Cut a bit off and roll it on a daily basis until it becomes a ball again. You could also attach it to driftwood or rock and let it grow in a carpet. Either way is fine; it up to you.
