Exclamation Column 20 Gallon tank cycle?

i have a column 20 gallon tank. i was just wondering how should i cycle it because im not sure if taking my female bettas out would be better or not(dont matter) im also looking to sell my column and get a longer one would that make a difference if i switched the tanks on them would it pt them through shock cause there would be pure clean water in it and also would they have a chancce of getting sick if i did that.... if anyone can awnser any questions would help out for sure

I'm sure you'll hear other opinions, but I would never cycle an occupied tank. While it can be done, fish-in is tricky, finicky and not good for the fish, IMO.

If by column tank you mean tall, I think you're right in going for a 20long. Betta like horizontal swimming space. And it should be no problem switching your sorority over to a cycled, heavily decorated tank (see sorority threads) as long as they're acclimated properly and introduced at the same time.

well i have like 8 girls in my 20 tall tank so how would i acclimate them all at the same time.....

Yeah, come to think of it, your parameters already match. Get the temperature to match and scoop them in. The way I read about it here is: Shy one first until she finds a spot, then next boldest...the Alpha last after everyone else has a place.

I'm sure this is right, but someone with more experience might verify.
