Dark Blue Crowntail betta scratching himself + more

Hi, My betta seems to be scratching himself (or his tail rather) or a few weeks now, he is a dark blue crowntail with navy fins, but the tips of his fins are starting to get a lighter shade of blue (almost a cyan) his activity levels aren't much different to normal, aside from scratching

any ideas whats happening?

Housing
What size is your tank?- 2 gallon
What temperature is your tank? 26* centigrade (about 79 Fahrenheit)
Does your tank have a filter? yes
Does your tank have an air stone or other type of aeration? Not sure
Is your tank heated? Yes
What tank mates does your betta fish live with? None

Food
What type of food do you feed your betta fish? Pellets and flakes
How often do you feed your betta fish? small amounts twice a day

Maintenance
How often do you perform a water change? every week
What percentage of the water do you change when you perform a water change? 50%-60%
What type of additives do you add to the water when you perform a water change? Prime water conditioner and aquarium salt

Water Parameters:
Have you tested your water? If so, what are the following parameters?

Ammonia: <0.25 parts per million
Nitrite: 0 parts per million
Nitrate: >5 parts per million
pH: 7.3
Hardness: 4 degrees KH, 5 degrees GH
Alkalinity: - not sure

Symptoms and Treatment
How has your betta fish's appearance changed? colour lightening around fintips (dark blue to pale blue/cyan)
How has your betta fish's behavior changed? scratching itself around various aquarium furnishings
When did you start noticing the symptoms? 3 weeks ago
Have you started treating your fish? If so, how? not yet, but i have protozin (protozoicide and fungicide) and myxazin (bactericide) on standby
Does your fish have any history of being ill? not at all
How old is your fish (approximately)? i've had him for 2 months but i suspect he's atleast 8 months older on top of that

if it looks fuzzy I would say its a fungus. You may have to look really close to see it. It also might be ich. You probably should have started with just some basic aq salts when the symptoms first started, but now it'll require a bit more than that.

i add aquarium salt at every water change and when i saw the symptoms i upped the dosage a little, there is no fuzz as far as i can tell

good to hear! you should have added that to the chart lol. hmm maybe its two different things. The itching could be external parasites and maybe the color change is just that, a color change.

so increase temperature a notch add a bit more salt should do the trick?

Yeah I would raise it to 82F or 28C. Seeing how you use salt regularly it might have built up a immunity to it. You might have to try something else, something for external parasites. If you shine a light on him he doesn't have a golden powder on him does he?

nope there no golden powder, i'll pick up some external parasite medicine tomorrow if possible

ok good. If the itching in the only issue, and there isn't fuzzies or golden powder than its almost for sure external parasites. I don't know what else would cause itching.
