Is it more of an upgrade to put CFL's in an incandescent hood or to just buy the flourescent hood to begin with? I only ask because I want a planted tank and it's my understanding that my plants will struggle with the 15W bulb offered by the flourescent hood whereas the 30W CFL's that I can put in the incandescent wil be plenty. Double flourescent light strips double in price so I'm not really wanting to go that route for such a small tank.
Unfortunatly I cannot find a used incandescent hood but I did find one for $20, the bulbs will be $9 and shipping happened to be free so CFL for $29 and flourescent hood for $34+$8 for the light. The ONE LED hood in that price range has bad reviews so I'll skip that one all together.
