100g sorority tank

How many giant girls can I put in a 100g moderatly heavily planted tank? I found a fantastic deal on a nearly new one with a new style solid wood stand.

Wow, I would think around 40 maybe a few more. if you figure around 4-5 girls per ten gallons. If its not totally planted maybe a few less. I would put as many plants as you can. I would reccoment live since as they grow you can keep planting.

Oh wow. I FANTASIZE about stocking my 30 gal. ( which I wouldn't have if I hadnt found it floating around in the lake) *has a conniption*. I know nothing about sororities, but 40 girls seems like alot to care for. 40 to name. 40 to feed (let's say each one gets 4 pellets a day, that's 4x40, so 160 pellets). I don't mean to discourage you, but maybe you could spoil 10 or so girls?

That would be a lot of girls! I would maybe do around 20 girls and then throw in a few other types for a nice community?

I would only recommend 40. While you could potentially fit more. Remember, give each Betta a good amount of space, don't cram them in with only following bio load capacity stocking rules.

It's not set in stone. I have made an offer so we'll see. I was thinking what a great place to keep the girls as they retire from breeding so I'd add maybe 5 fish per year-I'd let the Petco king male hang out in there with a few buddies until the girls were ready to retire-he'd be than banished back to the 10g. I wouldn't keep any active breeders in there because I'd hate to lose my investment if she got tore up or killed for some odd reason. That's also an awful big piece of furniture. I will for sure have at least a 55 gal retirement tank(piece of cake-been there done that) but I really think I can get that 100g set up for a real steal(hopefully for what a new 55g set up would run me). I would have just paid the full asking price but that cuts deeply into my money set aside for quality breeding stock-we CAN'T have that.
