Okay...so this is a soil based tank.....usually once it matures and the soil is alive I will start reducing the water changes...In my 10gal and under soil based tanks I remove my filters about 2-3 months-you can leave the filter in too-its a personal choice and start decreasing water changes....kind of a judgment call.....On my 5gal tanks-once mature I make maybe 6 water changes a year unless I have fry in them.

That sounds awsome! I will just keep an eye on it for when it may need another change. I will probably keep my filter running. I don't have anything in it, its just there to keep the water moving and my wisteria seem to like it to. Thanks for all the help!
