New betta likes the dark!

Okay, so my new betta is a bit shy to begin with, but I'm starting to see some of his personality already. Apparently he likes it when its dark...When its day, or when I turn my lamp on at night, he kinda hides in his plant and sits there. Turn the lights off though and he's swimming around exploring again. Anyone heard of this? xD out of all the bettas I've had, none have seemed to prefer the dark like this one.

I believe that the fish are less stressed in low light. That's why lots of people put tannins in their tanks or will turn the lights off when they're breeding the fish.

Yes this is perfectly normal when you get a new betta & he is in a new environment . Its important for him to have hiding spots where he can feel safe and secure. Over time this will change.

Enjoy your new fish

Sorry I don't mean to intrude on your thread here, but hearing that low light = calm, would it be ideal to leave my tank light off the first couple days when introducing my female Betta sorority?
