I have been working all day, its nice to just sit down, i may smell like cow pie's and rotten wheat, and i may be covered head to toe in filth, but even this 16 yr old knows to enjoy a break while she gets one!
So how is every one?
I'm a bit stinky :/ about to go catch some wrigglers for my betta's ....
I looove shrimp. They are so adorable! They may be the only things in my 20 for a while though!
Also, Sakura, don't know if I'm repeating myself but someone on TFK says ADA soil exhaust after 2-3 years. Debating if it's worth it. Though not sure of better ways to lower pH, I know injecting CO2 does the trick really well, it'd be a cheaper set up in the long run. I know RO water has a kH of 0 but not sure if natural diffusion will lower my pH enough.

Yup, that sounds about right for ADA soil from what I've read in their book. Probably designed it that way so you have to spend more money. >_<
If you have a choice, I'd go with a c02 injector for lowering pH and RO water for lowering KH. You have to add a remineralizer like Kent's R/O Right though. If you add ferts regularly and you aren't using some of the extremely difficult plants, then in my opinion, the benefits of an expensive plant substrate aren't worth the trouble and money. If using a c02 injector, it's also best to set up an airpump on a timer to come on and aerate the water, otherwise you'll experience a pH CRASH.
