Emotions! My boyfriend once had to hold me for 3 hours because I was sobbing my eyes out because I watched Lilo and Stitch. (Do you even know how depressing that movie is when you're hormonal!?)
WTH xD

Still 250$ is a lot of money. I guess your doctors are better paid but 300'000$ @-@
If it had been done differently it would have been FAR cheaper, lol. But he did a very state of the art procedure and the titanium alone cost a lot of money. There are a few different ways to do spine fusions, and this one was the most expensive (but also the most reliable and healthy, which is necessary since I'm young). I don't think a government plan would have paid for the most expensive option, but one never knows. Our hospital co-pay is always $250, no matter how much money the bill is. Regular doctor is $10, specialist is $25. My mother doesn't pay anything for the health insurance because she's a supervisor. That's soon to be changed, though, and it will be $400 a month. It's WAY MORE than paid for itself, though, as my father has had two heart attacks with total bills of $500k.
my bf needs a titanium joint in his jaw. He's got really really bad TMJ and his joint is just falling apart. But he's holding out as long as he can because its going to be major surgery with a very big bill
Omg I guess I just cannot fathom the medical bills! lol I'm glad you're okay. THe co-pay thing is helpful. What do people struck by poverty do when they get ill?
Ivan, TMJ too?? Your poor bf!!
I have TMJ too but the worse it does it give me daily headaches and if I'm not talking for a period of time or something it seizes up so I have to stretch it a lot.
All public hospitals (which is 90% of them) have a duty to treat, and will not turn anyone away, even if they can't pay. That's for emergencies, though. And if you REALLY can't pay, there's Medicaid. If you get cancer or some other lifetime debilitating disease, you qualify for Medicare even if you aren't elderly.
There are a lot of people in-between, though, like my boyfriend and Ivandert's boyfriend, who have no access to healthcare because they have too much money for Medicaid (which is still no money - you have to be REALLY REALLY poor to get Medicaid) and nothing debilitating enough for Medicare. Cheap health insurance plans (cheap being $60 a month) are useless, because the deductible is never less than $1000. So, no matter what, you're paying that much.
There's a lot wrong with it... I personally don't think a government plan is the solution. The system has been driven wrong by greed and pharmaceutical company corporatism. Medical care should not be as expensive as it is.
severe TMJ, had sever acid reflux, about 50% of his joints have a bit of arthritis in them, he's got dermatitis really bad (attempting to quench that out with grapefruit juice) and allergies 24-7. He has to take ridilin every day along with prescription grade ib prophin for his joints and benedrill. lol he's a mess. Hence why I'm getting him a bunny
I haven't been able to open my jaw wide for two or three weeks, and I just now got insurance. Gotta find out if dental is covered, and if not, I'm in a pickle. I think mine is because of jaw alignment and wisdom teeth instead of TMJ (which my grandmother had).
