white fluff on fins?

Housing
What size is your tank? 1 gal quarantine bowl
What temperature is your tank? 75
Does your tank have a filter? no
Does your tank have an air stone or other type of aeration? no
Is your tank heated? no
What tank mates does your betta fish live with? none, QT tank

Food
What type of food do you feed your betta fish? Omega One Betta Buffet
How often do you feed your betta fish? 2 times a day

Maintenance

How often do you perform a water change? once a week 50%, once a week 100%
What percentage of the water do you change when you perform a water change? above
What type of additives do you add to the water when you perform a water change? betta specific water conditioner... yellow bottle?

Water Parameters:
Have you tested your water? If so, what are the following parameters?

I have not tested this bowl in particular, but when I tested the neighboring bowl yesterday, with the same water source, frequency of changes, etc....

Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: N/A
Nitrate:N/A
pH: 8
Hardness: very hard (this is with our water softener running)
Alkalinity:

Symptoms and Treatment
How has your betta fish's appearance changed? White fuzzies on the crowns of her dorsal and ventral and anal fins
How has your betta fish's behavior changed? same as always
When did you start noticing the symptoms? this morning for sure, questionably on the ventrals yesterday, but i thought it was just crud she'd picked up from the bottom of the seemingly clean bowl
Have you started treating your fish? If so, how? Not yet
Does your fish have any history of being ill? no, other than big belly
How old is your fish (approximately)? I bought her about 3 weeks ago, she's less than an inch without her tail added.

SO this is what I see this morning. It's not as noticeable when she's not backlit, but it's clearly visible when she is. And no, the water isn't actually cloudy. I changed it 36 hours ago. And will change it again in about an hour, after the kids are fed.

My apologies for the picture quality. She's incredibly camera shy. I can barely get her to stay at the front of the bowl for pics.

It looks like her slime coat to me o.o Could be fending something off...

Is it growing on her fins or staying at the tips?

Try cranking up the heat a few degrees to see if the fuzz grows within the next day or so. If it does then the AQ salt treatment is for her~

If not, then it's just her slime coat, in all of its oozy glory.

I would advise against upping the heat, incase it is fungal/columnarious. I treat with aq salt, 1 tsp gal and stress coat. While it will likely cause additional body slime build up, it will also help shed any irritants. Do not continue treatment for more than 10 days.
