Prospective betta owner in Montreal

Hi, I'm Emily and I'm hoping to get a betta soon, though it really depends on my funds. In the meantime I've been doing a lot of reading on here and research into the different equipment at the petstores near me. I have all kinds of ideas about decorating the tank (I have an old one that, based on my convoluted calculations, is about 5 gallons) and am super excited to get it all set up.

One problem that hopefully someone can help me with: The petstores I've looked at don't seem to have a very large/healthy selection of bettas. Does anyone happen to know of any place in the Montreal area that's a good source? Something better than the average petstore, or even a really good reliable one?

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Sorry, don't know the US area. If you're OK with shipping, you can check out our classified or aquabid (look for US breeders).

Montreal is in Canada. :)
You are very lucky! Montreal is the base of Canada Betta, they have imports and bred fish.
If you have face book you can look them up!
A lot of the betta they have posted are expensive, but I'm sure if you contacted them that you don't want such a showy fish they might have a cheaper pet.

From what my sister has told me, Montreal doesn't seem to have much in the way of petstores. They make their money on mill puppies and kittens, not betta fish. I'm pretty sure. :/
Try Canada Betta. I hope you can find a nice one !!

I've just thought of something: I go to Plattsburg every once in a while, it's really not far from here. Would there be better petstores there? I'm pretty sure our Walmarts don't have fish anymore, but I've seen people on here talking about getting fish at (i assume) American Walmarts.
