So I went to a local pet store recently, just curious to see what they had.
All Veil Tails, mostly male, and one dragon scale. Very handsome dragon scale. But I was good and I resisted. However, I recalled that I had a sorority tank that was a bit short on fishies. SO I picked up four new girls.
But it made me happy to see how well the store took care of their fish, the veils were in larger little cup tanks, .25 gallon at least. Much better than little scoop cups. Crystal clear water, very healthy looking. No crowded tanks for any of the fish. Lots of supplies. I ordered a halfmoon female (or 2 :D) and a baby brine shrimp culture.
Guess that's what I should expect from a pet store called "the Fish Nook". haha. PLUS the manager was really nice. He said that he'll buy fry off me if I decide to breed, as long as they are at their near full grown size (bout an inch of body length). AND he'll pay me more per fish than the thailand fish he gets since I'm local. Thats only $1.25 per fish, BUT STILL!! Now I can safely breed without worrying about what to do with the fry.
I have a Greek Goddess theme for the girls, since every girl is a goddess to me. I ran out of the common names so I looked for the uncommon.
The new girls:
Demeter, goddess of the harvest:
Halia, goddess who is the personification of the saltiness of the sea, practical twin to Calypso:
Galene, looks like another I have, goddess who is the personification of the calm sea:
Calypso, to the right, daughter of the titans who's name means "hidden"
also sometimes associated with being the spirit of the sea:
The old girls, and by old I mean a month at my place:
Artemis, Goddess of the hunt, finally a not stressed picture:
Hera should be next, but the best picture I have of her is in the picture with Calypso. Queen of the Goddesses.
Persephone, the maiden of spring, and also Queen of the Underworld, where she walks flowers grow but she's the love of Hades:
And Aphrodite, Goddess of Love, a before (when I first got her) and an after:
