I dont know... but you have really pretty bettas so you will probably get some really pretty fry as well if you bred them.

Better to get some good breeding stock if you want to spend the time and money breeding.

The cost of your initial fish is only a fraction of the cost of raising a spawn of 200 fish.

Well there are two types of "good breeding stock". Stock that will win shows, and stock that will sell. Both of these have a demand, so you can offset your hobby with a bit of cash to compensate for all the time and money spent. And also find them good homes. I am sure there is a percentage (small) of mutt Betta's that find good homes, but having a breed that is in some demand helps the most toward finding homes for the Betta's you breed.

Most of the fish at aquabid.com seem to be good breeding stock, some could be show winners. I was at petco yesterday looking over their stock, even their half moons looked pretty poor. Perhaps if the IBC starts up their "stock shop" again that would be a good place.

The fish Jeff posted is a rather nice betta. Lacks some balance BUT will produce some nice fish if paired to a good female.

A good pair of bettas will run about $40.

I'm sure I'm just repeating what was already said, but--before you decide to breed ANY bettas, do LOTS and LOTS of research, and keep in mind the amount of MONEY and incredible amounts of TIME you will have to devote to them. No matter how much money or time you are estimating, be assured that the actual amount will be MORE. LOTS MORE.
