55 gal setup questions

i got a 55 gal tank that i might use for a community/sorority tank or live planted grow out tank. i am planning to try foam filters and water changes as the only things to keep up on water quality, aside from the plants.

currently i am looking for some type of glass cover and t5 light.

i was looking at these items but i was wondering if anyone happens to have experience with these items because im thinking i might have a problem with opening the cover to feed the fish with the light above it. the cover has a plastic spacer that i can cut to run the air tubes through. (i hope its that easy) i was wondering if anyone had experience with the brand of light or has any suggestions on brands.

i have a cat so my choices of filtration and cover is somewhat limited.

Also what is the best use for a 55 gal in your opinions.

I don't have a 55 gallon, but Sakura does. She keeps her electric catfish in there.
