Not a betta, but a sick fish none the less!

I am waiting to hear back from a friend about what this might be, but I know a lot of people are on the forums here and maybe this isn't species specific.. I just need to know if I need to quarentine right away

Its one of my female White cloud minnows, I flicked the light on the tank (to try and catch snails) and saw her. She's swimming normally and eating. My PH is 7.6 and my ammonia is 0, I did a partial water change today and changed my filter to a sponge (in the background you'll see my old filter and bio wheel to try and seed the new sponge faster).

The black spot on her tail is normal coloring.. this is the blackness of her body between her bottom fin and rear fin.

Hopefully you guys will have seen something like this before? She's the only one with it.

Close up

I didn't know if this should go here, or "Other Fishies" area, if I put it in the wrong spot ... sorry

Small thought - could this be an injury?

I think she's fine. Fish can change colour as they grow so that's probably it. She's a fat little thing.
Here's another minnow with funky coloring and it's thought to just be random colour too.

All my females are constantly with eggs, I have 20 fry atm

I only worry about her
A. Spreading something if it is something
B. if it isn't something how did she get it in less than 24 hours?

I can't imagine it being a sickness, it just looks normal to me. Fish can change colour very fast also.

I'll give her till the morning (6 more hours) in the hospital bowl and if it hasn't spread then I'll put her back in with the others. I'll check my emails then to see if any other reply's are here :)

My thought was that I smacked her since the discoloration is so uniform and on both sides. Maybe I bruised her?

I decided to put her back into her tank early. I don't look around before work and I didn't want to forget about her and she was stressing pretty badly.

Then it hit me

I have one male (the one that is dominant) in the tank who flashes and chases.. He is as dark as the spot on her back area.. all my females are pretty light in comparison to him.. Hopefully it's just that, her changing colors.. if anything changes I'll pop onto here and letcha know.. just odd that it's on 1 spot.

My husband said I need to stop over reacting about a $1 fish.. but he has no idea

He loves his dog .. and she was free LOL
