Filter Not Working!

Hi All! This is my first post! I've found some great info on this site...hoping someone can help with my filter issue. I have the Aqueon Mini Bow 2.5 Tank. It's the one with the divider, but I don't use it and only have one fish in the tank. I noticed my water was very cloudy and there was what I believe to be green algae all over the filter cartridge. I emptied the tank and put in clean water.....when I put the filter with a new cartridge back in, it's making a loud noise and it isn't filtering the water! Any suggestions?? Thanks!!

Sounds like there is some air trapped inside the impeller housing. Open it up and let the bubbles out then reassemble while there is water in it. Prime it with a cup of water from the tank and plug it in.
