Could This Hurt My Betta?

I want to try giving my girl a little floating toy to play with, to see if she likes it. The best idea I can think of is maybe a plastic bottle cap. (I have no floating balls or anything.) Would this be safe to try putting in the tank to see if she likes to play with it?

They certainly are safe. Just make sure you give them a good rinse before putting them in the tank. I've only ever put water bottle caps in there, so if you use a soda it'll need a really good rinse.

I know this question sounds silly, but Betta's play with plastic bottle caps or things that float? If so that would be awesome!

Yep! They probably are just curious about what it is or think it's food!

On that note: Are there any other ways to play with my betta? I don't want her to be scared, but I don't want her to be bored either. I feel like some of the only interaction I have with her is during feeding time. I wish I could give her more.

My favorite way to "play" with my betta is to take a small handheld mirror and put it up to the tank. I move the mirror as my bettas move, so it's like they are fighting a rival. I've also heard of some people using a picture of another betta to do the same thing: play fighting.

I got a thermometer that was all metal and reflects like a mirror, that I stick in the water. they love that stupid thing they will chase it around the tank and attack it. so cute.
