Seem to have a new problem in my soriety -- red gills and parasites?

I have a few bettas who have red on the outside of their gills, not inside, nor is it inflamed. My danios also have red on the outside, but its been that way since they did have nitrate poisoning from my old tank.

40 gallon planted tank with 6 female bettas, 6 danios, 5 cories, and 1 otto (the others keep dying)

amonia = 0
nitrite = 0
nitrate = 10-20
Temp = 79

On top of that, I see a white spec on one of my new bettas on her fin and a betta I've had for months has stringy white poop. I think something was introduced with the last batch of ottos I got since I have no room for a quarantine tank. I order paraguard online since it seems to be good for a lot of things. I can't really use salt due to the cories and plants, plus 6 bettas will fight in a tiny quarantine tank all together (I'd think). I could put them in their original bowls, but whatever it is would still be running rampant in my 40 gallon.

Oh, I also have a bloated betta, but I think she's filled with eggs as she is acting normally. All fish (except the otto) are acting normally.

What would you do?

I don't. My cameras will not be able to get pictures in a tank that large and moving them would stress them. The red looks like they could have scraped on something but I'm not sure. Only thing I'm sure of is one betta certainly has stringy, white waste hanging from it and has for the past two days. I might salt bath some individuals.

EDIT: The white spot is gone, so now its just one betta with possible parasites and odd red on the outside of gills. I could have had a nitrate spike without knowing, but I checked after a 25% water change and it was just at 5.

Get Jungle Anti-parasite fizz tabs. I used those, and they worked nice :)
