water is milky after one day?

I just set up the fishtail yesterday and Timothy has only been in there not even 24 hours. Could I be adding to much conditioner

No, you're ok. It happens sometimes but it will clear up in a day or two.

Did you rinse your substrate? Sometimes new gravel/sand can make things cloudy for a while, my latest tank needed 3-4 huge water changes and left to settle overnight it finally cleared, as I didn't rise the sand well enough.

I also get clouding sometimes if I use water out of the hot tap - it's not particles but tiny air bubbles that take a while to go away.

I do use warm tap and I think you might be right about the gravel my neither insisted on washing them.
