new thing in water??????????

we put a real plant in my sons betta tank about 4-5 months ago. eveything has been going great, but just the other day i noticed a very small snail on the side of the wall.....is this harmful for the fish? and where did it come from?

It must have hitchhiked. -_- Snails usually do that. Didn't you quarantine the plant?

no i dont think so, the pet store didnt say anything like that. but could they show up after so long? are the harmful to his fish?

Pet stores... Don't trust them. They give off wrong info. They only want money. Maybe you just didn't see it. I dunno. (I'm an idiot ;D) Snails aren't harmful to fish. They could be tankmates. Is it like this?: http://www.petsmart.com/product/inde...&lmdn=Pet+Type

The snail won't hurt. He'll slime around eating algae if your fish doesn't eat him.

But they do multiply so watch for little egg clusters on plants - if you end up with 50 snails, that's a lot of ammonia.

To get them out pop a piece of zucchini in the tanks at night. They'll all latch on to that and you can lift them out.
