Cherry barbs and a female?

its probably on this website somewhere but I hate using searches on forums(its hard to find anything useful without an hour of time).
I have a ten gallon with 6 cherry barbs. I was wondering if I could put my female betta in with them? Its a 10 gallon tank heated, filtered and cycled.

I've always been told that barbs should have a 20 gallon set up because they grow fairly large. So I believe that you should forgo having any more fish in there and just have your barbs.

Compatibility/Temperament: Very peaceful, well suited to a community aquarium of non-aggressive fish. Though lively, it is very shy and should not be housed with boisterous fishes. Shoaling by nature, it must be kept in a group of at least six, but preferably more if space permits.

You can try it, but if the cherries are anything like my 11 rosy barbs, your female betta will NOT be happy. It also depends on the tank setup. I have quite a few plants in my 30 G, but my VT female was only in there for 2-3 minutes before I had to rescue her. I fed the fish GENEROUSLY right before, but after they finished the food, they started to follow the VT.

You can try it, but make sure you have a net handy & at least 30 minutes to observe their interaction.
