Got my tank divided (pic)

Hahaha I used a picture frame

That's Dahvie on the left and Rave on the right :)

I'll be getting more plants and stuff for Rave's side, and I'm aware She has more room than Dahvie does. That's partly because Dahvie is more comfortable with less room, and she shares her side with two platies.

That really looks good, Max. Clever idea, well done.

Errm...I'm not sure you want to have a male and a female sharing the same water. Pheromones and all that. She'd be constantly in estrus. Not good thing.

Perhaps someone can give a more satisfactory explanation.

Good idea with the picture frame as a divider, but what kind of material is it made out of? The spare frames I have would probably foul up the water.

Yeah, I agree with the male/female sharing a divided tank thing. Heard hormones would pose a problem if you're not planning on breeding them.

Estrus is a mammal thing, fish don't get periods.

Also I was actually looking at that Roman Arch ornament at the PS store, and I thought the whole thing the way it was molded was TOO sharp to be used in a tank.

If I bought that ornament, I would have filed down at least 50 areas till they were smooth, but that would sort of mess up the look/details.

I've had that roman arch ornament since I first got the tank and it was only dahvie in there, never had any problems. The frame is made out of regular plastic it's not harmful. This is only temporary anyway until I can get an actual divider lol. Right now the only way it's standing up is by two decorations holding it up and I'd like to feel more secure with an actual divider.

And I've heard of many betta keepers keeping their tanks divided with a female and a male in them with mesh..I was even recommended to use mesh for filtration purposes..

I did something similar with my tank and found out my "left" fish was a girl,

Time to play fish jockey tomorrow!

What material is seperating the sections? If it's glass you have 0 water flow. In my profile pic you can see mesh you can get at a craftstore that works GREAT (white can come large holes, small holes and microscopic holes, in my pic it's "small")
