Aging Betta...

Ryu was deffinately a year or older when I rescued him from the crappy store he was in...fell in love with the bugger at first glance. I've had him now for sometime. In the last few months he's started to show signs of aging: no more highjinks, sleeping on his leaf hamock almost all day, less agressin towards food, ignoring the cories, dulling color, bearding, increased marbling, and lately his fins are starting to look leass than splended.

I know I might not have much more time with him... Doea anyone have any tips for caring for an aging betta? I'm trying to keep the water conditions ideal and the stress low. I just don't know what else to do and my research hasn't turned up anything on the subject. Any help would reassuring.

my boy Patrick I've had for over a year and he wasn't a young chicken when I got him either. I got my guy in a heated 2 gallon hospital tank. I also have an Indian Almond Leaf in his tank at all times. They like the tinted water. My guy is getting really old looking now too, his color has started to grey lol

Hm... I've heard that you're supposed to lower the water level...? I think it's because it's easier for them to get some air.

yeah, it helps. I took mine out of the divided 10 and gave him his own little 2 gallon tank :)

I bought my King male from Petco. Since yesterday I reallize that he takes nap. I wonder if he is aging. He is still very active and agressive too but he takes nap or go to bed earlier now than a few month ago.
