Whats Wrong With My Betta?

My betta SharkBait sits at the bottom of his tank and doesn't eat. He is in a 5 gallon tank and he has a live plant in his tank.He only eats when the pellets are grounded up. PLEASE HELP

He sounds cold; what's the water temp?

Also, which pellets are you giving him?

If you just recently brought him home, it is normal for them not to eat; my Howie didn't eat for almost 2 weeks after I got him. I was scared to death

The water temp is around 74 degrees fahrenheit and I feed him TetraBetta
Floating Pellets and once a week a little piece of the inside of a pea

74 is a bit chilly; he needs to be a little warmer. 78 to 80 is ideal. You can either just warm up the room he is in, or get him a little heater.

Also, I'm not a vet, but I have heard from many people that peas will actually cause damage to the digestive tract of a betta. They are strictly carnivorous animals, so they don't need vegetables

ETA: You can also try using a different brand of pellet; I use the Omega One pellets, and they are extremely tiny.
