There is a small rip and a tint of green. Is this ok? Also, is it possible for anything to go wrong after I put the leaf in? Is it possible to get rid of the brown color later on or no?

The green I'm not to sure on, but the rips are fine. If you want the brown color out just do a water change. if it gets sucked down by the filter thats fine. now if it wraps around the intake of the filter you might want to move it to the other side of the tank.

Is there any advantage to putting the leaves in? I do have water wisteria and amazon sword plants in the tank. Will the oak leaves affect their health?

No it wont affect your current plants and yes there are advantages. it makes your bettas happier, it softens your PH and it promotes healing.
