Exclamation So, You Want to Breed Bettas?

Some of you have seen questions here, and sites such as Yahoo Answers where people flat out ask "How do you breed bettas?" All of you have also seen those people who have 'decided' to breed without doing an ounce of research. We all know there are people who don't even use the internet, and simply decide to throw a male and a female in together to see what will happen. We all stress "research, research, research!" But a lot of people still don't do their homework.

Frustrating, isn't it?

I've spent the past several weeks creating a powerpoint slideshow with all of the basic knowledge needed for breeding these fish. I've also included very helpful links to good information. I figure- people like simple, and one simple source of information is much less intimidating than having to google every question that may come up. My hope is that people will be encouraged to do adequate research before attempting this hobby.

Have a look for me, tell me what you think.
(Be sure to watch in full view so that you can see all of the smaller text.)

Loved that! This should definitely be a sticky for people starting to breed!

That was a very interesting and informative slide show! It so helps to SEE what is going on when discussing genetics. I had a question, though, and wasn't able to find it in your slideshow: what does SD and DeT stand for? (Hopefully that isn't one of the repeat questions...) Thanks for the information!

SD = Superdelta
DeT = Delta Tail (Not to be confused with DT = Double Tail)

@KadenJames.

I'm looking into breeding HMPK's if my other plans don't go as planned, but this is a great resource. The links are good,and it's great to see someone with knowledge sharing it to people. xD
