Betta too skinny?

Lt. Dan belongs to my military boyfriend, but he recently deployed for the next 6 months. This is my boyfriend's first fish and he bought it this year.

This is my first week taking care of Lt. Dan, I've done a lot of research about taking care of bettas and my biggest concern is that it looks much thinner compared to other bettas I've seen in the gallery. I feed it twice a day for 6 days a week. I feed it Bettamin Tropical Medley flakes, and I'm afraid of overfeeding until the fish explodes because flakes are hard to measure. So I try to feed little at a time in a minute.

What do you guys think?

Do you have any other pictures of the fish from a top view?

I don't think your fish is too 'skinny', bettas come in different shapes and sizes, so we can conclude that some have a smaller frame than others. Or it may also mean your fish is still young and it'll probably grow in time. Hope this helps

he looks healthy to me.though i would try feeding him brine shrimp or dried bloodworms.flakes arent so good for bettas.or atleast not alone..feeding him with flakes and then like dried bloodworms is better.give him more nutrition..i stricly feed mine dried bloodworms,but thats because they are perfectly happy and healthy with it.though i do throw in some flake at times..

you're very welcome.trust me i understand about the researching.i spend hours and hours and may not find what im looking for.but come here and know exactly what i need..i use to think the same about my male.even now he is skinny.but he is healthy.its just how he is. :) glad we helped
