If u have big leave plant the male will make the nest under them
With the water lettuce it's have a +- effect
Down fall is that it's a high light plants
Long root which tend to carry dragon nymph
Plus side it kind of dissolve when it die
N its a fast growing plant

Should I use it? I also have water hyacinth and frogbite. I was the root good. Hopeful don't get too much trouble.

You can use it until the fry are free swimming.
I agree with Curly, the waterlettuce will disolve in the water after a while if not kept under good lighting.
You don't need to keep plants with the fry, just need to get infusoria going for the first week. By then all the fry should be big enough to eat microworms and bbs. Y

Frogbit is good
It will stay alive with natural lighting
The plant that I use is frogbit,water sprite n mini water lettuce
Reason I use them is that they float
Easier to clean the bottom
N they don't stick to your hand like duckweed
The first two don't need much light to stay alive
