birthday party invite question

so, my son, Dominic, is turning 6 on August 25th. This is the first birthday party I am throwing him, now that he's in school and has friends. He's been to 1 kids already in his class and it was a pain to shop for this kid. I had no idea what he was into.

So, my question.....

Is it "tacky" to put his interests on the party invite (i.e Beyblades, Mario bros, sonic, golf ect) or should I not put anything????

A lot of times, especially at that age, the kid's parents will ask you what your child likes, so I suggest you don't, but maybe you could have something like a mario/sonic/etc-themed invitation.

As Shayebri suggested you can go the subtle way.

I would avoid an outright interests catalog because it might look that you invite them for the gifts (not that you do, but some people think in strange ways).
