When using Seachem Prime it's 2 drops per 1 US gallon. Since it is concentrated I would just use 4 drops. Premix it in something first than add it to the tank.

It's not a brilliant idea to under-dose water conditioner... jeez.

Joe, you can safely double dose Prime. I read here one person has safely overdosed it up to 5 times the recommended dose. So you can just go ahead round it up a gallon to three and dose for that.

It's also probably a good idea to add the Prime right before you add the water to the tank. It likely stays fresher in the bottle.

I love this product. :)

Since Prime is concentrated some people in this forum have suggested using 1 drop per gallon and most recommend 2 drops per gallon. You will not be harming your betta by using 2 drops per gallon for your 2.5 gallon tank contrary to what others would have you believe. Yes you can use as much as 5 times the dosage but why would you if you don't have to. Since you are going to premix it using a 3 gallon container then go ahead and use 6 drops.

Yes, prime has a "sulfur" smell to it. If you go to their website its under their FAQ's. Also, 2 drops/gallon is what I've read all over the forums too.

It's easiest to put the Prime in your refill water before refilling your tank. For partial water changes, dose for the full capacity of your tank (5 drops per 2.5gal).

One of Primes advantages is deleting the toxicity of ammonia, but it only does this for a couple of days. So it's best to dose your water just before filling.
