Parents don't understand

I have gotten my mom from "It is just a fish" to talk to them on a daily basis. She even cares about them and told me she watches them while I'm out.

My friends on the other hand don't even care.

I accept that other don't or can't understand why I love fish. Some say it's because can't bond with fish and to those I say BS. My fish recognize me from others, others they just flare at but me they perk up and look happy to see.^_^

Eh, I take most of my husband's comments as banter. He likes poking fun at me when I tank to the fish, but the truth is he watches them when I'm not looking (or he thinks I'm not looking) and whenever he's heading down the hall he stops to check on the 3 boys by the hallway. I catch him looking at bubble nests.. the faker, lol

To have a mirror. I tell him he should up bettas on the internet and he did. Now he reminds me to
Chang sharkbaits water and let him have mirror time.

My father in law isn't like that.. he's one of those vicious people who likes attacking others for no reason. I do partial water changes on all my tanks when they need it and the old man always says "When I had fish I never changed the water." "Once it's cycled you don't have to mess with it. Leave it alone" "Why are you taking perfectly good water out?" "What's a betta going to do with that much space? He's just one fish (about my three 10 gallon tanks with a betta in each)" and, my favorite. "So when are you going to start fighting them?" and what really makes me mad about that is he wants to get his buddys out here so they can place bets.. and no, he's not kidding. He offered to buy Corrin and Manson to fight them... If you can't tell, the FiL isn't a very nice person.

My family is actually very supportive in my fish-keeping. (Probably because they don't have to do anything while I do all the work) My mom says that she wants a betta tank on her desk once she redoes her bedroom, but then adds: "as long as you take care of him."

Well when he says that about cycling, tell him that's only true in salt water and even then it's a constant eye on water parameters. Freshwater is a different story, it's all about cleanliness!

But yeah I've caught my parents checking out my fish or asking to look at them. And my niece, well she loves them all and not just hers. ^_^
