Hi, there! I've been looking through this forum for a few days now and it looks so great!
So, here's a little bit about me:
I am part of a family of pet lovers. We hadn't had fish for many, many years, until my younger sister and a former roommate decided they wanted to get a few. As predicted, the fish ended up here and the population grew to 150+ finned friends (pregnant livebearers involved, lol). Knowing my sister loves fish, a friend got her a betta of her favorite color as a gift and the betta fever began! My sister ended up with 4, and, after feeling sorry for 1 at Walmart one day, I have somehow ended up with 9 of my own! (It's because I'm a shameless animal sucker. I come by it honestly.)
So, now, we care for 13 betta rescues, 6 (2 are mine) males and 7 females. There was an 8th little crowntail female, Bitsy, who was never quite right and, after a week, ultimately developed dropsy and passed away. I did everything I could think of, but she just didn't survive her cup time.
As for the other 13, I'm definitely spoiling them, treating those who are sick, and loving them SO much! (Yep, even my sister's.) I hope to post pictures of them later.
As for my choosing bettas, I'm the kind of person who picks the sickest, most desperate fish to bring home. It doesn't matter how plain-looking, how sick, or how far-gone a fish seems; I bring them home to a place of forever love. I only wish I could save them all.
I'm so excited to be able to talk to you all now and share your affections for our beautiful, amazing fish!
