Betta splendens are "wild" bettas. Yet they do live with eachother in the wild they a solitary and never usually actually interact with other. Not including breeding rituals though

Yes, I do think it is dramatic to compare drinking excessive amounts of alcohol when pregnant to housing male and female splendens together in a divided tank.

Unless someone can give me actual statistical evidence of the likelihood of this causing problems for either betta, it's just basically all anecdotal. Therefore, I feel it is not wrong for me to offer my own anecdotal experiences up. I take offense that to some members I am considered cruel or a bad owner because of this.

Going by the pictures posted, I do think the OP should revise how they are currently keeping their bettas as it is obvious that this is not an ideal set-up. However, if you look at my picture you will see both male and females are fully coloured, healthy looking and obviously not at all excited or stressed by each other's presence. This has been my experience whenever I keep males or females in divided tanks together.
