Ripping fins?

My mom recently bought a baby biOrb for my betta since the old tank cracked. This was only about a week ago. I went away to school and came back today to find that his fins are all ripped, he looks like a crowntail betta. The biOrb does come with jagged rocks so I'm wondering if that could be the reason why his fins are ripped. Any other insight as to why his fins may be so badly ripped? He is the only fish in this tank.

Also, will his fins heal and return to the way they were originally?

More likely than not, it's the rocks. I would take them out.

Also, his fins will heal with proper care (I myself had a similar fin-ripping problem).

Silk only plant and smooth rocks for them...keep the water pristine and he should heal well.

I just did a bunch of research on the Biorb and couldn't find anything on the GPH (gallons per hour) flow of the filter. Bettas have very sensitive fins, so the quick flowing water may be shredding them.

I did notice that the Biorb doesn't come with a heater built in, so you'll need to pick up a small one if you haven't already.
