Can I use these for plants?

I know that the craft/floral decorations use in fish tanks has been debated before, but I wanted to ask about these leaves. The stems that they are attached on have metal in them, but the leaves themselves can slide up and down them just like they do on my silk plants. If I take them off, and maybe use fishlingline to rig up some sort of plant form, could I use them?

You can use anything you want, but it could leak unwanted chemicals in your water. You have to decide.

Soak them first, but some chemicals are invisible.

I had a fake plant designed for a reptile enclosure, that turned the water green, could have been from the dye. Wood usually doesn't turn the water green. The fish in that tank are still alive for now, but they're not bettas. Didn't have time to siphon the water out before the rainstorm passed by.

Yeah I know. Some people say they're fine, and others have had bad experiences.

I soaked these in a bucket of hot water for a few hours last night, and then left them soaking over night in room temperature water. Nothing has leaked out, but I did notice when I poured the water into the bathtub, a lot of bubbles formed.
