Platy/Platie? Care/Info

When my Betta Phillip dies(hopefully not anytime soon or the near future) I was thinking of getting a platy.

Do you need more than 1 platy for them to be "happy"?

Do they eat Betta pellets/goldfish flakes/shrimp pellets?

Are they aggressive? If not can they get along with Cories?

They do better in a group of 4 at least, they eat regular fish flakes and they are really calm. Downside, they give birth every month

Would getting 4 females or 4 males be good? I am not interested in breeding at all 0_o.

Also is 4 to much for a 10 gallon? I don't really trust the aquarium site that gives you your tank stock %.

I had a large number of platies in the past. If you purchase four females chances are they'll be pregnant so you may prefer to try four males -- I don't remember if males fight when females aren't present. Mine would chase and nip each other sometimes when females were in breed mode but otherwise they lived very happy, healthy lives.

We fed ours regular tropical fish flakes with occasional treats (bloodworms, tubifex, daphnia).
