So, I've just begun setting up a 15 gallon tank to split between Dov and Tintri. I'll be splitting it 3 ways (middle unoccupied), but they'll probably get 6 or 7 gallons apiece. Anyway. I was thinking of getting some African Dwarf Frogs to go along with them. I don't know how either fish will react to having an ADF (one should be ok, but the other is a bit aggressive). I'll get one frog each to test how they react. If they seem ok, I might add two more (I've heard they do better in groups? And that you can keep one ADF per 3 gallons?). If one or both don't work out, my King is pretty gentle and I can put them in there.
Anyway, anyone have any tips or tricks? I did read the "Guide to Proper ADF care" on here, and I'm curious if anyone has some first hand experience with them, and maybe some some advice about keeping them.
if you're putting ADF's with your bettas, make sure they have somewhere to hide when they want to be left alone. a cave, a spot between a decoration and the glass, or even just a rock that's laid loosely on the bottom so they can crawl under. especially with aggressive bettas, ADF's need a little panic room for when they're feeling timid.

you might want to glue the rocks together with aquarium sealer or aquarium adhesive if you do that. don't want to have a fatal cave-in!
That's the plan XD Just gotta find some nice rocks, and then some sealer/adhesive.
also, if you're bringing in rocks from outdoors, make sure to wash them VERY thoroughly (i'd make a week's process of it, soak them in hydrogen peroxide for a few hours, then rinse them within an inch of their rocky lives to get it all off, and let them sit in clean, dechlorinated water for several days. you want to make sure you don't bring any nastiness in from the outdoors.
whatever you do, DON'T USE SOAP! it is toxic to fish and amphibians. remember, for you water is just a drink, for them it's the air they breathe.
Yep, I know about the soap XD I've got vinegar, a little h2o2, and I'm thinking of getting my hands on some bleach. Yes, I know the bleach is dangerous, but I don't want to have to keep buying vinegar XD I'd only use it for major cleanups, like after fish death or between fish on quarantine tanks. And, for things like this, where I might be using things I collect from the outdoors.
Would boiling the rocks for a good long while (maybe with a little vinegar mixed in?), scrubbing them down with a mild bleach solution (can't remember if its 5%, .5%, or .05%), and then some more scrubbing with regular water, then the soak in dechlorinated water, be over-doing it? XD That is, if they're "wild caught" rocks lol
Ok. Well, if I can ditch the bleach, I'm ok with that. I'm paranoid too, so if I can avoid it, I'll go for it. But I don't want to risk my fish getting sick from something in the WI river that might be brought in by the rocks.
