Mine all have java fern in theirs, they seem to like it enough. It's hardy and grows even in low-light tanks. (:

I have a number of different plants in my boys' tanks, but the ones they seem to absolutely LOVE are anything that floats. They rest in them, they sleep in them, they swim through them - they just LOVE them!!! :)

What kinds of floating plants do bettas like? I might be going to Petsmart tomorrow (55 minutes away), and I might like a floating plant and a gravel plant if that isn't overdoing it in a 1.5g tank.

A 1 gallon is minimum IMO. Plants in any tank are great. :) Plants like Java Fern, Java Moss, Swords, Anarchis, etc. Duckweed float. They stay at the surface, they can block out light from the rest of the plants at the bottom, though. Remember to QT all the plants you put in even though it says there are no snails and others.

Actually, you did. This thread was really old and you replied. The OP probably won't come back here as the answer has already been given. A Marimo Moss Ball is a plant. It absorbs nitrate, ammonia, and such. What else would it be?
