Permanent Tattered fin?

I'ts been over a month since Buddha ripped his caudal in half. But it hasn't finished growing back....

Before:

After (the missing piece is a bit bigger than the pic shows):

It's been like that for about 2 weeks now, and I was just waiting that it would just grow back overnight, but it never did.

Is it almost like a scar from the injury?

I hope all of Pudge's splits go away. I can't imagine him with tattered fins :(

It can take a while & there is a possibility it may be permanent. So long as it's not getting worse & is only a cosmetic problem, I wouldn't worry about it.

Yea there have been no signs of it being worse.

Poor fish though. The font rot and that cut have left his fins looking a lot worse than what he used to look like :/

My male betta "Vega" had absolutely no tail on him at all when I got him, he looked like a female (in fact he had less of a tail then a female!)
The previous owner didn't take very good care of him at all! he was an absolute mess!
But with some TLC his fins slowly grew back and now he's absolutely beautiful without so much as a mark on him (:

The fins will heal, it does take a lot of time though.
Just give him some extra love and and one day you'll take a look at his tail and go "damn! your fins look good!"
I used API stress coat with Vega, it has aloe vera for healing and produces a slime coating to protect the fish from infections.
Luckily it doubles up as a dechlorinater so I used that when I did his water changes.
