Filter Plants

D any of you keep bog plants in your filter? In the 10 gallon 2 peace lilies in the 20 gallon peace lilies 2 Pothos and lucky bamboo.

In my filter? No. How would they get light unless a built a refugium? But I've got floating plants in all of my tanks and in my pond. They are great natural filtration. Duckweed is a good small one, but I like the shade provided by water sprite better.

I just remove the lid and have florescent light bulb near the filter.

It is more if you have an open top tank and they have access to light, but they are all house plants and can survive with diffused sunlight, though they won't do as good as a job, if they did have a light shining on them. I plan to put a pothos in one filter so I can keep ammonia and nitrates down. I will also use a smaller filter to house some bacteria and flow. Also, I would have some poly or sponge in the filter to just do mechanical and maybe some biological too.

I have a pothos next to my filter right now :D it just established itself a week ago :P I do want to take off the filter cap and grow some otheer plants in there. I'm sick of staring at the brown algae in the filter threatening to invade my nice algae free tank.
