Hi I just finished doing a fish in cycle and as long as you keep up with water changes and use a good water conditioner that detoxifies ammonia you should be good to go.

I use the API Mater water kit and it sure helped not sure I could have done it without it but I think the strips will be fine for a couple of weeks as its going to take that long to start seeing any nitrites or at least it did for me. I have a bio-wheel filter and those take longer ti cycle I have read. Anyway good luck and there are many people here to help you though it I could not have done the cycle without them ! Cant wait to see what type you pick out I love the marbles and if I ever get another Betta that is what I want for sure !
