At first Nibbles only had a case of fin rot I was treating with super clean water and dried Indian Almond Leaves. Then he stopped eating and lost the ability to float properly after his heater spazzed out. I know 87 degrees isn't deadly hot for a fish, but I think the problem wasn't so much the temperature but how suddenly the temperature rised.
No stringy white poop to suggest a parasite. No pine coning to suggest dropsy. No color change, sores, or gasping breathing to suggest the water parameters were below par. No gold specks or scratching to suggest ick or velvet. The only proplem I could pin point was unstable temperature. I just don't know what else I could have done besides switching to a different heater and treating him with episom salt. Maybe I should have have treated with aquarium salt instead of episom salt, but I will never know.
At least Nibbles is in a better place. Our time together was short, but he will be missed.
