Question Nutrafin Betta Food?

Does anyone have this type of food, and is it good for a betta?

I do not have it just remember to feed a varied diet like commercial freeze dried live.

I can't speak personally for that food, but I can give you the tools to determine whether or not it is good. One of the easiest ways to tell quality food is to look at the ingredients. If some kind of fish or protein is the first ingredient, it's a pretty good food. The food should also have percent protein above 43%. Just a little lower (like 42%) is fine, but if it is down around 35% you know it's no good.

I just looked up the ingredients and this is what I found:

Fish meal, corn gluten meal, wheat flour, corn meal, soybean meal, squid meal, fish oil (preserved with ethoxyquin), shrimp meal, scallop liver meal, dried yeast, fish liver meal, potato protein, lecithin, citric acid, vitamin A acetate, vitamin D3 supplement, vitamin E supplement, thiamine mononitrate, riboflavin supplement, pyridoxine hydrochloride, vitamin B12 supplement, folic acid, calcium pantothenate, L-ascorbyl-2-polyphosphate (source of vitamin C), inositol, biotin, niacin, ethoxyquin (preservative).GUARANTEED ANALYSIS: Crude protein Min. 45.0%, Crude fat Min. 5.0%, Crude fibre Max. 4.0%, Moisture Max. 10.0%, Ash Max. 15.0%, Phosphorus Min. 1.2%, Calcium Min. 1.6%

CORN AND WHEAT are some of the first ingredients- the second ingredient as corn is bad.. These are cheap fillers pet food companies throw in to make the food inexpensive to produce, and therefore not as healthy. Pretty much every betta food available WILL have some fillers but the ingredients list is listed by most concentrated to least concentrated, that is why it is important for the first ingredients to be quality ingredients.

Two of the brands I reccomend are New life spectrum betta formula and Omega one betta buffet pellets.

I tried looking up the NLS ingredients list but i cant seem to find it online. So im typing out the first ingredients to give an idea.... NLS... Whole antarctic krill meal, whole herring meal, whole wheat flour protein- 37%

Omega one betta buffet pellets: Whole Salmon, Halibut, Shrimp, Wheat Flour, Wheat Gluten, Fresh Kelp, Astaxanthin, Lecithin, L-Ascorbyl-2-Phosphate (Source of Vitamin C), Natural and Artificial Colors, Vitamin A Acetate, Vitamin D3 Supplement, Vitamin E Supplement, Vitamin B12 Supplement, Riboflavin, Niacin, Pantothenic Acid, Folic Acid, Biotin, Inositol, Tocopherol (Preservative), Ethoxyquin (Preservative)

Same thing with your dog or cat's food- you want the first ingredients to be protein- meats! :D

The protein % is important but some cheap fillers can add to that % so ingredients should be your mian focus ;)

NLS as far as I'm aware is only abailable at petco or online. They sell it on amazon and it comes in a generous sized container.

Omega one is available at petco and petsmart
