Happy fry, happy Mommy

My first successful spawn is 3 weeks old tomorrow. I'll be gone tomorrow, and was worried they would get sick while I was gone.. Am I nuts? I guess I worry too much, cause I took a flashlight and checked every fry I could see. It took 2 hours.. >.< But worth it!

No signs of Ich or Velvet! So awesome!

I only found one dead baby on the bottom.. which is the first one I've found so far.. Awesome again!

I did another count.. and there are still well over 100 fry.. I loose count at about 100, but if I where to guess, it's 120 or 130. One more awesome!

Over all I'm very happy. They're all big, hungry, active and healthy I really hope things keep going like this! They say pride comes before the fall, but really.. I am working hard to keep them healthy, I think I've earned a happy dance, lol.



But.. I might need a bigger grow out tank.... lol.

Are spawns this large normal? Should I expect a lot of losses soon?

It takes a lot of care for broods that high even many guppies do not have that high wow.

I'm a house wife, my entire goal in life is to take care of kids, pets and dishes.. so care isn't a problem. I think I spend 3-4 hours a day on my fish tanks. Yeah.... my life is a little boring, lol

Crown tails, neither of which I have very good pictures of, but I'll try to get some after dinner. The father is Renji, a red, blue and black boy with very long, straight rays and the mother is Mary Jane, a black and green partly iridescent girl with longer rays then any of my other girls. She was a gift from a breeder in Ohio.

They're not show quality, this was more of a test spawn and I really only expected a dozen to survive.. this are not turning out as expected.. lol!

Yep. Never had curling problems in any of my CTs (I've got 3)

I'm soooo tempted to try a spawn with my doubletail mail..... but with this many babies already, I'll be looking at an overload in 3 months as it is, lol. Jeeze this really can become addictive, huh?

That might be another reason show quality have a lower survival rate like less disease resistance your care sounds great what are you feeding them? Do not forget to keep some for bragging rights.

BBS, micro worms and banana worms. I switch them up a lot. They eat like little piggies, lol
