wow so it's too hot for use? Anything electric made with brown plastic like that is probably pretty old. Is there some sort of aquarium museum in this world? Maybe they would know something about it.

With ANY aquarium heater, it's designed to be used in water.

I just wasn't expecting the thing to get to 150 degrees to the touch within 5 seconds of turning on.

It's NOT going to heat the fish tank to 150 degrees when it's actually in WATER.

But eventhough this heater is clearly old and ugly brown, it works VERY well.

I had to take pictures of this old heater before I threw it back in the box of aquarium heaters. I've NEVER seen a heater like this, thought you would find it fun to look at.

Usually I don't have time to write things down, once I have a photo of it, I can search for any numbers clearly on the device. No results at all.

But I did find this link regarding heaters. Take a look at it because this is a NEWer model of heater. It's believe this brand & model heater comes encased in a thermal plastic container instead of glass.

Lesson, unplug your heater first for at least 5-10 minutes before messing around with your tank.

I've NEVER seen a heater get THAT hot in 5 seconds. I plugged a Deep Blue Brand Digital 300watt heater out of water as well but that was only for 1-2 seconds.
